The truth of the matter is that insurance companies some times make mistakes. With the proper preparation and education you will be able to interact with your insurance company with confidence and identify those mistakes. In the event of a claim, a property owner is responsible to pay the deductible for any damages. Any cost of the amount of the repairs that surpasses the property owner’s deductible, the insurance company is responsible for.
When a claim is filed, typically the insurance company will send an inspector to access the damages and then they will provide you with a repair estimate, your deductible and finally the net amount of the claim. However, in many cases property owners don’t realize that they have the right to employ any contractor to access and repair the damages.

Here is a sample of an actual estimate made for a home owner that have filed claims with their insurance companies. The repair estimate shows you the break down of the total of the line items of services and materials, then it shows you the costs for sales tax and finally a total "Replacement Cost Value", which signifies the actual total cost of the repairs.
Below the "Replacement Cost Value", you will see the "Less Deductible" amount which reflects the insured's deductible amount that must be paid out of pocket. The "Less Deductible" amount is based on the percentage of the insured's property value. The last dollar amount is called the "Net Claim Paid", this is the amount of money the insurance company is responsible to pay, minus the insured's deductible.

The home owner that filed their claim with their insurance company contacted Security Remodeling. After speaking with the home owner, we were able to show him first hand how extensive the damage from a storm really was.
Our Security Remodeling Inspector was able to show the home owner he was able to have the proper storm damage repairs at the same cost and we showed the home owner that the insurance company would still pay for the difference.
So before you accept your insurance company's initial repair estimate, be sure to contact Security Remodeling, Inc. We will show you that we make a difference.
